Guides / Discord bot

Set up Discord notifications

Choose which clan happenings the bot announces, which channel each goes to, and how to filter out the noise.

For clan staff Updated 11 Oct 2026

What it is

The bot can announce what happens in your clan: someone joins, ranks up, gets a rare drop, caps at the citadel. You decide which of these are posted and where.

It is set up in clan management under Discord, on the Notifications tab, in the Live Notification Router.

How the router works

The router is a list of notification types. Each one has a channel.

  • Pick a channel and that type is posted there.
  • Leave it with no channel and that type isn't posted at all.
  • Several types can share a channel, or each can have its own.

Save when you are done. The bot must be able to view and post in every channel you choose.

The notification types

Members

Type Posted when
Member Join Someone joins the clan in game.
Member Leave Someone leaves or is kicked.
Rank Up A member is promoted in game.
Rank Down A member is demoted in game.
Name Change A member changes their RuneScape name. Needs Smart Rename Detection on, on the Member Roster.

Achievements

Type Posted when
Level Up A member's achievements: levels, drops, boss kills and so on. Filtered by category, see below.
Milestone A member reaches a milestone.
Citadel Capping A member caps at, or visits, the citadel.

Events

Type Posted when
New Event An event is created.
Event Warning A reminder before an event starts.
Attendance Reminders An event ends, to nudge the hosts.

These three are covered in Set up Discord for events.

Staff alerts

Type Posted when
Tracking Error The site has trouble reading your clan's data.
Banned Member Rejoin Someone banned in your warning system comes back.

Send these to a channel only staff can see.

Filter the achievements

An active clan produces a lot of achievements. Under Level Up, Choose which achievement types post here gives each category three settings:

Setting Posts
All Every event in that category.
Filtered Only the notable ones: key skill levels, top-tier loot, hard bosses and the like.
Off Nothing from that category.

Whatever you choose, every achievement still shows on the player's own profile on the site. The filter only controls Discord.

Start with Filtered everywhere. If the channel is too quiet, open up the categories your clan cares about.

Achievements older than 24 hours are never announced. A member who hasn't been seen for months won't flood the channel when they come back.

Filter the citadel posts

Under Citadel Capping, choose which activity posts:

  • Citadel Caps
  • Citadel Visits

Both go to the same channel. Turn either off if you only want one. Cap posts also say how many members have capped so far this week.

Citadel activity comes from members' RuneMetrics logs, so a member with a private profile produces no posts.

Fix an integration error

If a route shows Integration Error, the bot's last attempt to post there failed. The usual causes:

  • The channel was deleted. Pick another.
  • The bot can't see the channel, or can't send messages or embeds in it. Fix the channel's permissions for the bot's role.

The error clears after the next successful post.

Common problems

Nothing is being posted. Check the type has a channel, the bot can post in it, and for achievements that the category isn't Off.

Too many posts. Set the busy categories to Filtered or Off, or move achievements to their own channel.

Name changes aren't announced. Turn on Smart Rename Detection on the Member Roster.

A member's achievements never appear. Their RuneScape profile is private, so the site can't read their activity log.

Posts arrive late. The site reads each player on a schedule, not live. A post follows the next reading after the achievement.
