What it is
A competition ranks entrants by how much they gain between a start and an end time. You choose what is tracked and who is in it. The site does the rest: it reads stats, keeps a live leaderboard, and announces the result.
Worked example: "Mining Week", seven days, Mining XP, open sign-ups, with a leaderboard channel in Discord.
For a competition that repeats by itself every week, see Skill of the Week.
Before you start
Decide who takes part. It is the choice that shapes everything else.
| Type | Who is in it | Pick it when |
|---|---|---|
| All Clan | Every clan member, automatically | You want everyone ranked with no effort from them. |
| Open sign-ups | Members who enter themselves | You only want people who opted in. |
| Hand-picked | The players you add | A small invited group. |
| Teams | Teams you build | You want squads competing on a combined total. |
Create it on the website
- Open your clan's Competitions page and press Create Competition.
- Under General Settings, fill in:
- Competition Title
- Starts At (UTC) and Ends At (UTC). These are game time, not your local time.
- Description and, optionally, a Cover image.
- Under Tracked Metric, choose Skills or Activities and tick what counts. A competition tracks skills or activities, never a mix.
- Under Participant Registry, choose who takes part. See Choose who takes part.
- Fill in the Discord section if you want posts. See Connect it to Discord.
- Press Launch Competition.
Start and end at a quiet hour for your clan. Readings are taken around those moments, and fewer people mid-session means cleaner results.
Create it in Discord
- Type
/staff comp create. - Fill in title, track (the skill or activity), start_date, start_time, and days (how long it runs, 1 to 60).
- Set who to Everyone in the clan or Members who sign up.
- Optionally add a description and a channel for its posts.
Team competitions and hand-picked entrants need the website.
Choose who takes part
All of this is in the Participant Registry section of the form.
- All Clan: switch on All Clan. Every current member is entered. Members who join the clan while it runs are entered too, and members who leave are taken out.
- Open sign-ups: switch on Open sign-ups. Members join from the competition's page, with
/comp join, or with the Join button on its Discord posts. - Hand-picked: search for members and add them under Individual Participants.
- Teams: switch on Teams, press New Team, name it, and add players to each team.
Settings explained
Combine
With more than one skill ticked:
- Combine on: every ticked skill is added into one total and one leaderboard.
- Combine off: each skill has its own leaderboard, and the page lets people switch between them.
Open sign-ups
Lets members enter themselves. It isn't used for team or all-clan competitions, where entrants are set another way. Sign-ups close when the competition starts. Skill of the Week rounds can also take late joiners, whose gains still count from the start.
Add to Discord events
Lists the competition in your server's Events tab with its cover image, and keeps it up to date when you edit. Switching it off removes it again.
Connect it to Discord
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Discord Leaderboard Channel | The bot posts a top-10 standings board here and refreshes it every hour, plus the start and final-standings announcements. You can type a new channel name and the bot creates it, which can take up to 5 minutes. |
| Ping Role | Pinged on the sign-ups open, starting soon and started posts. Leave on No ping for none. |
| Add to Discord events | See above. |
The bot must be in your server first. See Set up Discord for events.
While it is running
- The rules are locked. A live competition shows Currently live, and its settings and roster can't be changed. This protects the results.
- The leaderboard is live on the competition's page.
- To stop it early, open it for editing and press Force End Competition Now. The leaderboard is finalised at the current values. There is no way to restart it.
When it ends
- The page shows Finalizing Leaderboard. Every entrant is queued for one last fresh reading, so the result doesn't depend on who happened to be read most recently.
- It then shows Official Results.
- The bot posts the final standings in the leaderboard channel.
Edit or delete
Before it starts, open the competition and press Edit. Change anything, then Save Competition. Deleting is on the same form, and removes the competition and its results.
Common problems
Someone shows as Untracked. The site can't read that player's stats. Usual causes are a recent name change or a name that isn't on the hiscores. Fix the name on the clan's roster.
I need to change the skills after it started. You can't. End it early and launch a new one.
The bot didn't post. Check the leaderboard channel is set and the bot can post there. Posts are sent on a schedule, so allow a few minutes after the start.
