Discord server safety

Catch spam bots with a honeypot channel, clear out inactive Discord members, and manage the servers linked to your clan.

For clan staff Updated 11 Oct 2026

What it is

The Server Safety tab holds two tools for keeping your Discord server clean, plus the list of servers linked to your clan:

  • A honeypot channel that removes spam bots automatically.
  • An activity prune that removes members who have gone silent in Discord.
  • Linked Servers.

It is in clan management under Discord.

Both tools kick people from your Discord server. Read each section before switching it on.

Honeypot channel

How the honeypot works

A honeypot is a channel clearly labelled "do not post here". Real members read that and stay out. Spam and raid bots post in every channel they can see, so they give themselves away.

When anyone posts in the honeypot:

  1. Their message is deleted.
  2. They are kicked from the server straight away.
  3. Anything else they posted elsewhere in the last hour is cleaned up too.

Server Administrators and anyone with an exempt role are never affected.

Set up the honeypot

  1. Under Honeypot Channel, pick an existing channel, or choose a category and press Create Channel to have the bot make one.
  2. Under Exempt Roles, add any roles that should be safe, such as your moderators.
  3. Edit the Pinned Warning Message so it is obvious to a human, and press Re-post Message.
  4. Save.

The bot needs the Kick Members and Manage Messages permissions in your server.

Do it safely

  • Name the channel plainly, such as "do-not-post-here", and keep the pinned warning at the top.
  • Put it near the top of the channel list, where bots hit it early.
  • Tell your members about it before you switch it on.
  • Exempt your staff roles.

A real member who posts there by accident is kicked, not banned. They can rejoin with an invite.

Discord activity prune

How the prune works

Discord's own prune only knows when someone last logged in, and only goes back 30 days. This one uses the messages and voice activity the bot has actually seen in your server, so you can prune on any number of days.

It only removes people the bot has had long enough to observe.

Prune settings

Setting What it does
Inactive For (Days) How long without a message or voice activity before someone qualifies. Any number.
Roles Eligible for Pruning Only members whose roles are all in this list can be pruned. Leave it empty to apply to everyone.
Include "Never Seen" Members Also removes members the bot has no activity for at all. Only if they joined before the threshold and the bot has been in the server long enough to have seen them if they were active.
Daily Automatic Prune Runs the prune once a day with these settings.

Run the prune

  1. Set the options and save first.
  2. Press Run Custom Prune Now.

The prune kicks members immediately and can't be undone. Save your settings before running it, and start with a long period.

Protect people

Use Roles Eligible for Pruning to limit who can be removed. For example, list only your guest or unverified role, and nobody with a member or staff role can ever be pruned.

A member who only reads and never posts looks inactive to the bot. Decide whether that is what you want before pruning your whole server.

Linked servers

Linked Servers lists the Discord servers connected to your clan.

  • The Primary server is the one the bot treats as your clan's home: Discord activity for rank points and the activity leaderboard is counted there.
  • Link Server connects another.
  • Manage or Edit changes a server's name and type.

Common problems

The honeypot isn't kicking anyone. The bot lacks Kick Members or Manage Messages, or the poster is a server Administrator or has an exempt role.

A real member got kicked by the honeypot. Send them a new invite. Then make the channel's warning clearer, or add their role to Exempt Roles.

The prune removed fewer people than expected. It skips anyone the bot hasn't been able to observe for the whole period, and anyone with a role outside the eligible list.

The prune says there is nobody to remove. The bot may not have been in the server long enough. Try again once it has been there at least as long as your Inactive For period.
