What it is
Rank progression works out who has earned a promotion, so you don't have to track it by hand. You choose what counts (clan XP, time in the clan, events, capping and so on), and the site keeps a running score for every member. When someone's score reaches the next rank, they appear on your Promotions list.
RSClanTrack can't change a rank inside RuneScape. It tells you who is due, you make the change in game, and the site notices and clears them from the list. See Rank-ups, demotions and kicks.
Everything here is on the Progression Rules page in clan management. Press Save Configuration when you are done.
Step 1: choose what triggers a rank-up
Under Rank Targets, pick one of two modes.
| Mode | A member ranks up when | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Points | Their rank points reach the rank's target | Clans that want to reward activity of every kind |
| XP & Time Goals | They reach a set clan XP, a set number of days in the clan, or both | Clans with simple, traditional requirements |
You can switch later. The rest of this guide covers both.
Step 2 (Points mode): choose how points are earned
Under Points Earning, turn on the Master switch, then switch on each source you want and set its rate.
Core
| Source | How it pays | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Clan XP | 1 point for every so much XP gained in the clan | 1 point per 5,000,000 XP |
| Tenure | 1 point for every so many days in the clan | 1 point per 30 days |
Advanced
| Source | How it pays | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Citadel Cap | Points each time a member caps | 2 points per cap |
| Events | Points each time a member is marked present at an event | 3 points per event |
| Recruitment | Points to the recruiter, once an admin confirms the recruit | 5 points per recruit |
Discord
| Source | How it pays | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Text Activity | 1 point for every so many messages | 1 point per 50 messages |
| Voice Activity | 1 point for every so many minutes in voice | 1 point per 60 minutes |
The Discord sources need the bot in your server and members to have linked their RuneScape name.
Start with Clan XP and Tenure only. Add the others once you can see how fast points build up, so nobody leaps three ranks in a week.
Where each source comes from
- Events pay when staff take attendance. See Take attendance.
- Citadel caps are read from members' RuneMetrics logs, so the member's profile must be public.
- Recruitment is logged with
/recruitin Discord or on the site, and pays only after an admin confirms it on the Recruitment page.
Step 3 (Points mode): set each rank's target
Under Rank Targets, enter the points needed for each rank.
| Rank | Default target |
|---|---|
| Corporal | 10 pts |
| Sergeant | 25 pts |
| Lieutenant | 50 pts |
| Captain | 100 pts |
| General | 250 pts |
Recruit is where everyone starts. Admin and the ranks above it are never given automatically.
Step 3 (XP & Time Goals mode): set each rank's goals
For each rank, fill in Clan XP, Days, or both. Leave a box blank to ignore it.
- Clan XP is the in-game figure: XP earned since joining the clan.
- Days count from each member's join date. Admins can correct a join date on the Member Roster.
Then set Must meet:
- Both goals: the member needs the XP and the days.
- Either goal: one is enough.
There are no demotions in this mode, because clan XP and time in the clan never go down.
Step 4: pace the rank-ups
Under Rank-Up Rules:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Allow Rank Skipping | On, a member is promoted straight to the highest rank they qualify for, such as Recruit to General. Off, they go up one rank at a time. |
| Rank-Up Cooldown | The minimum number of days between rank-ups, counted from a member's last rank change. Leave blank to turn it off. |
What happens when you switch it on
- Nobody is demoted on day one. When points are turned on, each member's points are set to match the rank they already hold.
- Activity only moves points up. Points go down only through the inactivity rules, if you use them, or when you edit them yourself.
- You can edit anyone's points on the Member Roster page.
See where points came from
At the bottom of the Progression Rules page, Points & Activity Audit Log shows recent changes. View Full History opens every point change in the clan, which you can filter by:
- Type: XP, tenure, event, citadel cap, recruitment, Discord, decay or a manual change.
- Member
- Change: gains only, losses only, or both.
- Time frame
Each entry shows what it was for, the amount, and the member's points before and after.
Common problems
A member has the points but isn't on the Promotions list. Check the Rank-Up Cooldown: they may have ranked up too recently. Also check they aren't a tagged alt, as alts skip rank-ups unless you include them.
Nobody is earning points. The Master switch under Points Earning is off, or every source is switched off.
Event points aren't being awarded. Events only pay when attendance is taken and synced, and only if the Events source is on.
A member's days are wrong. Members who were already in the clan when it was added to RSClanTrack got that day as their join date. Correct it on the Member Roster.
Points jumped after I changed a rate. Rates apply to what is earned from then on. Check the full history to see what each member was paid and why.
